Minimum Wage Increases for NY, NJ and CT

On March 29, 2013, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation that will raise the minimum hourly wage in New York in three increments, commencing on December 31, 2013.

New York state minimum wage will increase to:

  • $8.00 per hour on December 31, 2013.
  • $8.75 per hour on December 31, 2014.
  • $9.00 per hour on December 31, 2015.

At this time, increases for tipped employees are not included. The bill does allow for a wage board to convene in addressing tipped workers at a later date.

For the state of New Jersey, the minimum wage will increase to $8.25 effective January 1, 2014.

For the state of Connecticut, minimum wage will increase to $8.70 per hour on January 1, 2014, and to $9.00 per hour on January 1, 2015.
